Meet a few of the creative writers and artists who contributed stories to this special issue.
Katharine Shilcutt (“Our Changing Climate’s Social Challenges,” and more) is the director of communications for the Office of Research where she recently launched the biannual Rice Research Review (R3). When she's not covering research, you can find her deejaying at KTRU Rice Radio or swimming laps at Rice’s Recreation Center.
Chris Gash (“ChatGPT’s Creative Side”) is a conceptual illustrator whose clients include The New Yorker, the United Nations and Scientific American. Chris is also an illustration faculty member at FIT in New York City.
Joel Resendez (“Under the Dome”) serves as the state government relations director for Rice. He works to secure support for key state policy initiatives and research funding.
Margo Moritz (“The Translator”) is a photographer based in Southern California. She seeks the authentic in people, often finding the deepest humanness in life’s simplest, most mundane moments.
M. Scott Brauer (“Disrupting Health Care”) is a documentary photographer based in Seattle by way of Montana, Massachusetts and China whose work covers politics, society, science and business.
Anthony Rathbun (“Syllabus: Community Collaboration”) is a versatile Houston-based photographer whose clients range from news outlets and editorial publications to small and corporate businesses.
